PJF Corporation has been building since 1973, and today we’re a Northern Utah general contractor based in Layton. We started as P.J. Fondario Corp., founded by Pete J. Fondario, and spent our early years building for national tenants and restaurant brands across the country. That meant a lot of miles and a lot of owners who needed their doors open on a specific date.
More than 50 years later, we’re building healthcare facilities, assisted living communities, car dealerships, and offices across Northern Utah and beyond. Here’s a quick look at how we got here.
How a national builder became a Northern Utah general contractor
Over five decades, PJF grew from a national builder into a regional, full-service commercial general contractor. Today our work covers healthcare construction, assisted living, automotive dealerships, offices, municipal buildings like the Perry City Hall and Police Station, and tenant improvements.
Most of our projects land between Santaquin and Pocatello, and from Wendover to Vernal. We also build in Boise, Twin Falls, and Island Park, and we’ve taken on work in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Arizona.

A few projects we’re proud of
- Tanner Clinic Layton Parkway: a 145,000 sq ft ground-up clinic with full imaging (including MRI) and an outpatient plastic surgery suite. Our biggest project to date.
- Tanner Clinic Women’s Center, Layton: about 30,000 sq ft over multiple stories, with a mammography center and OB/GYN.
- Whisper Cove Assisted Living, Kaysville: 74 units including memory care, finished in 2019.
- Heritage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Perry: about 38,000 sq ft, built to the Stellantis image program and finished in 2024.

Why our clients keep coming back
Much of our work comes from clients who have built with us before. We’ve built for Young Automotive Group all over the map: the Hyundai store in Ogden, Young Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Morgan, Young Subaru of Ogden, and a lot of work in Layton, including Young Chevrolet, Young Buick GMC, and the new Young Kia. We’ve even headed up to Burley, Idaho for a few of their projects recently.
Tanner Clinic has brought us back for more than one location, and we spent about seven years doing near-constant work at St. Mark’s Hospital. Repeat clients also include the Karl Malone Group, HCA, Maurices, and Bohme. One client who built three assisted living facilities with us put it simply: we delivered on the timeframe and budget we agreed to.
Repeat work is the best scorecard a Northern Utah general contractor can get. Nobody hires you twice if the first one went sideways.

How we work today: CM/GC
We use a CM/GC (construction manager/general contractor) approach. We don’t keep architects or engineers on staff, but we pull the whole team together for you: design, engineering, funding, real estate, and construction. You get one point of contact from the first napkin sketch to the ribbon cutting.
Bringing a builder in early means budget and schedule questions get answered while there’s still time to adjust the design, not after it’s locked in. We shared a real example in Why a CM/GC Matters: Lessons From the New Young Kia in Layton.
What hasn’t changed since 1973
The way we work is the same as it was in 1973. Give owners honest numbers, and do what we said we’d do.
Quick answers about PJF
How long has PJF Corporation been in business?
Since 1973. PJF started as P.J. Fondario Corp., founded by Pete J. Fondario.
Where is PJF Corporation located?
Our office is at 905 Marshall Way N, Suite C, in Layton, Utah. As a Northern Utah general contractor, we mostly build from Santaquin, Utah to Pocatello, Idaho, and from Wendover to Vernal.
What types of buildings does PJF build?
Healthcare facilities and clinics, assisted living and memory care, automotive dealerships, offices, municipal buildings, and tenant improvements. We handle both new builds and remodels.
What is a CM/GC?
A construction manager/general contractor joins the project during design instead of after it. That gives owners cost and schedule input early, and one team responsible from planning through construction.
How do I choose a Northern Utah general contractor?
Start with repeat clients. A contractor that owners keep hiring again is usually one that hits its budgets and schedules. Ask whether they’ll get involved during design, not just at bid time, and ask to see similar projects they’ve built, like clinics, dealerships, or assisted living. It also helps to pick a builder who knows the local cities, inspectors, and subcontractors.
